SPACE: the white space inbeween shapes the negative space, creates the sense of depth 

LINE create pattens, thickness, strong element in design, text, type thickness=bolder

COLOR evoke time, place or emotional feeling 

SHAPE geo shapes, symmetrical figures, organic shapes(ppl) & natural shapes  inorganic shape, abstract, can invoke nostalgia, 

TEXTURE difficult to archive but we can imply it, give deign depth, embossed= give paper texture or thick ink, creates more visual intrest

VALUE 3d, range of gradients, shading  

BLANCE doest nessinarly have to be symmetrical, 

PRINCIPES 

UNITY shapes nest to each other,

VARIETY differences between shapes, when using repeating elements but colors can be different

REPETITION repeating elements, colors shapes and angles 

HARMONY how things work together 

PROXIMITY important for layout, placement for text, white space= space better text(visual hierarchy

PROPORTION role of proportion, scale 

EMPHASIS(focal point) color control the eye show things that are important
